Yes, you read that correctly.
I think this keyboard is the answer to my problems. Up until now, it seemed to me that there was no good way to really keep my keyboard clean. For my home computer, I purchased a keyboard skin - that sounded like a great solution. I ordered one customized for my particular keyboard and it kept the keyboard in pristine condition - but the skin got grimy after a while and nothing that I used to clean it really worked well. After a few years, I threw away the skin and went back to using the keyboard by itself. I dust it, spray with canned air, use keyboard wipes, but still stuff gets in between the keys or on the keys and it's difficult to get it really clean. Know what I mean?
The Kensington Pro Fit® Washable Keyboard is available in either black or white and can be washed to remove germs and contamination. It's a standard 104-key design and is compatible with Windows 2000 up through Windows 8. The manufacturer info says it has an antimicrobial protective coating to prevent the growth of mold, mildew and fungi. Personally, I've never had a keyboard that developed mold, mildew or fungi, so that's not really a plus in my book. How exactly does a keyboard grow mold????
The big deal for me is that I can wash this. (Just one caveat - don't immerse the USB plug.) I can get all the crumbs out from in between the keys (yes, I eat snacks while I'm working - don't try to pretend that you don't!) I can get the grime off of the keys. People who know me know that I'm a pretty picky person - and I like a keyboard with a specific feel to the keys. I have a Kensington keyboard already and I love it - it's exactly what I like. I'm hoping that this one has the same feel to it. I haven't actually used it yet, but I want to. If anyone already has it and would be willing to post a review, I'd love to know what you think.
