It's here....................that dreaded time of year when you have to tackle the year-end filing. It doesn't matter whether you're a business or an individual - we all have to do it. Tax records, employment records, investment records, etc.....
Lucky for you, I work for an office supply company so I can help you with this. You have two basic choices available - storage drawer systems or individual storage boxes. Step 1 is to decide which of those you want.
If you are a business and you have limited space, but you need to be able to access your files frequently and quickly, a storage drawer system like the STAXONSTEEL is a great idea. The boxes are placed inside the base and secured with steel framework. They can be stacked up to 10 boxes high, saving you tons of space and the drawers themselves are reinforced with steel wire.
Storage boxes are ideal if you don't need frequent access. Regardless if you are a business or an individual, if you're just storing them for the required seven years and you're not going to need to get to them, storage boxes are it. Individual boxes like these don't stack as well (or as high) as the drawer systems and you need to choose the appropriate strength, so consider that when designing your storage plan. We'll discuss strength shortly.
If you're going to go with individual boxes, Step 2 is simply to choose the style of box. Do you want a lift-off lid, an attached lid, or a string & button closure?
Step 3 is to determine the strength that you need.
Basic Duty - infrequent access, basic use, normally only stacks 2 high.
Medium Duty - occasional access, moderate use, stacking strength around 500 lbs.
Heavy Duty - frequent access, heavy use, stacking strength around 800 lbs.
