It’s the most wonderful time of the year and the holidays will be here before you know it. I’m willing to bet that someone in your office has already been tasked with organizing your company party. There are lots of decisions to be made: where, when, what kind of food, games, etc.
If your company is like a lot of others, you save money by having the party onsite at the end of the workday (and into the evening). Office Express can help you with the supplies you need to make the evening a success.
Everyone wants to be appreciated in their job. Regardless of your level, we all want to know that we're doing a good job and that our boss notices. It's part of our nature and it's part of what drives our performance. If we work hard and no one notices or recognizes us for our performance, we become passionless and uncaring. We need that "atta boy!"
There are many different ways for bosses to reward employees and the trick is to find out what each employee values most. Some people only want verbal recognition - a simple "Good Work, James!" A stellar performance review in their file. Others value monetary gains - bonuses, pay raises, profit sharing, etc.
Twice each year we remember our armed forces with special holidays. Cities hold parades and ceremonies at city hall and/or in cemeteries. Today is one of those days - today is Veteran's Day. This year is a little different though, because we just had a presidential election and that election has consumed the American people's thoughts and actions for many months.
My fear is that Veteran's Day will be overshadowed by the election and its aftermath. Let us not forget to celebrate and remember the service men and women who fought to make this country great and to give us the opportunity to elect our president. Please join with me and take a moment to reflect on the blessings we enjoy because of the bravery and sacrifices of our military.

This unofficial holiday was created by the Personal Computer Museum in Brantford, Ontario and is "celebrated" on the third Monday of October.
The first Labor Day was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City, but it wasn't made an official holiday until 1894 when President Grover Cleveland signed a bill making it a national holiday. Labor Day is both a celebration of the contributions and achievements of the men and women in the workforce and a celebration of the end of summer.
In his song "American Soldier," Toby Keith sings "I will always do my duty, no matter what the price. I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice. Oh, and I don't wanna die for you, but if dyin's asked of me I'll bear that cross with honor 'cause freedom don't come free."
Those lyrics just take my breath away - and reduce me to tears every time. I can't help it when I think about all the men and women who have served our country over the years, fighting for independence, for justice and for freedom.
For my freedom. Willingly.
(Since we may be having a green Christmas here in the Midwest, here's a little snow to really make it feel like Christmas - and you don't have to shovel it!)

I'd like to take a moment to reflect on the events of Dec. 7. 1941 and remember the troops who lost their lives in the attack on Pearl Harbor. I know we just observed Veteran's Day, but to me, Pearl Harbor deserves a special remembrance.
